This exceptional Steiff collectible was released in 2008 as a Worldwide Special Edition to commemorate the First U.S. Volunteer Cavalry Regiment, famously led by Theodore Roosevelt. Rich in historical significance and crafted with remarkable attention to detail, it is a standout piece for serious collectors.

The set is limited to just 1,858 pieces worldwide, marking the year of Roosevelt’s birth. It retains its original red and white numbered tags along with Steiff’s iconic gold-plated “Button in Ear,” and remains in Good Plus to Excellent condition.

The teddy bear, standing 7"/ 18 cm tall, is handcrafted in soft cream alpaca and features finely embroidered brown nose, mouth, and claws. It is dressed in a sand-coloured cotton military uniform with red and green collar and trim, complemented by a brown leather belt with brass-coloured detailing. A brown felt slouch hat with a cream band completes the look, with the brim neatly secured by a Steiff button.

The accompanying horse, measuring 12"/ 30 cm in length, is beautifully crafted in white mohair with subtle shades of brown and tan. Delicate airbrushed detailing enhances the body, while black shading defines the face and open mouth. The mouth and ears are lined in felt, and the horse features a long white mohair mane and tail. Its hooves are crafted in leather, and it is fully equipped with a hand-finished brown leather bridle, reins, and saddle, set over a green felt saddle cloth.

The teddy is mounted atop the rearing horse, and the entire piece is presented on a wooden pedestal finished with an elegant brass plate, creating a striking and display-ready composition. This rare Steiff edition combines heritage, artistry, and storytelling in one beautifully preserved collectible. Exact measurements with plinth are 36cm high, 34cm long & 22cm wide.
