Steiff Hope Mother & Baby Bear Set – Exclusive for Hamleys

A beautiful and highly collectible Steiff set, the Hope Mother & Baby Bear Set was released in 2000 exclusively for Hamleys to celebrate the dawn of the new millennium. This charming limited edition captures the timeless quality and craftsmanship for which Steiff is renowned.

Carefully hand-crafted from genuine mohair, Hope, the rose-tipped mother bear, stands 28cm tall and is fully jointed. She lovingly holds her baby, which is hand-stitched to her paw. The baby bear is made from soft white mohair, measures approximately 8cm tall and features a jointed head. Both bears have hand-stitched pink noses and mouths, bright blue eyes and the authentic Steiff gold-plated ‘Button-in-ear’, accompanied by their original white tags 652875.

Hope wears a delicate pale cream bow around her neck, while her baby is dressed with a sweet white bow, pink dummy and white nappy. Hope bear has white suedette paw pads. The set is in excellent condition and is a wonderful example of Steiff’s attention to detail and traditional hand-crafted quality.

This is a strictly limited edition, numbered 227 of only 1,500 pieces, making it an especially desirable addition to a Steiff collection. When the bears were released, Steiff described Hope and her baby as symbols of hope for the future, stating that they trusted the pair would “symbolise your wishes for the future and help you fulfil your dreams” as the new millennium began.

The set comes complete with its original Certificate of Authenticity, presented as a charming scroll with ribbon bow, and the original presentation box. The box has some slight wear marks and is missing its clear plastic lid, but the bears themselves remain in excellent condition.
