A charming Merrythought limited-edition mohair teddy bear, beautifully handcrafted in Shropshire, England, by the renowned British teddy bear maker Merrythought. Measuring approximately 9" (23cm), this petit bear has a wonderfully traditional character and is a lovely example of classic English teddy bear craftsmanship.

He is made from premium cream to light-blonde short-pile mohair plush, with contrasting felt paw pads and a firm, substantial body. His elongated upper paws, tiny ears and sweet proportions give him a distinctive and appealing appearance.

The bear is fully jointed with a traditional five-way jointed construction, allowing his head, arms and legs to be positioned for display. He has glossy domed glass-style eyes and a carefully hand-stitched nose and mouth, giving him a wonderfully expressive face.

Around his neck he wears a burgundy satin ribbon, tied in a classic off-centre bow, which provides an attractive contrast against his pale mohair.

This bear was produced as part of a strict worldwide limited edition 312 of 500 pieces, with the individual edition number recorded on the bear's original labels or tags. He features the distinctive orange Merrythought stitched labels, including labels attached to the side and paw.

The bear has an appealing traditional design, with a firm body, elongated paws and tiny ears that give him plenty of character despite his compact 9" size. Based on his style and labelling, we believe this bear may have been produced before 1991, although we cannot confirm the exact year of manufacture.

A delightful little piece of Merrythought history, this limited-edition mohair bear would make a wonderful and affordable addition to start a collection, or to add to, of vintage and antique-style British teddy bears.
