Merrythought 'Bride Teddy Bear' – Limited Edition from 1992

A beautifully pretty and highly collectable Merrythought Bride Teddy Bear from the 1992 season, designed by Jackie Revitt. Measuring approximately 14 inches (36cm) tall, this elegant character bear is crafted from soft rose-pink mohair and is fully jointed, making her both a wonderful display piece and a lovely addition to a Merrythought collection.

She is dressed as a traditional bride, wearing a delicate floral headdress and flowing veil which beautifully complement her soft rose-pink mohair. Her sweet expression is enhanced by bright black button eyes and a carefully hand-stitched brown nose and mouth.

This bear is number 110 from a limited edition of just 500, making her an appealing piece for collectors of Merrythought’s character and limited-edition bears. The original official swing tag of authenticity remains attached, together with the side-sewn Merrythought label and the Merrythought label stitched to the lower paw pad.

She has pale cream felt paw pads with flat lower pads to assist with standing and display. There are some slight marks to the cream paw pads, consistent with her age. In a couple of places, the mohair on the body has been slightly flattened or squashed out of position, which may give the impression of thinning when viewed closely, although this is hardly noticeable.

Overall, this is a very pretty vintage Merrythought bear in good condition, with her original limited-edition numbering and authenticity labels still in place. A charming and feminine example of Merrythought’s 1990s character bears and a lovely addition to any vintage teddy bear collection.
