A charming and highly collectable Merrythought Bonzo the Dog, this delightful limited-edition soft toy is number 188 from an edition of just 500. Measuring approximately 9.5 inches (24cm) tall, this characterful pink velveteen Bonzo is a lovely example of Merrythought’s nostalgic British character toys.

Bonzo is the famous comic-strip dog created by British illustrator George Studdy in the early 1930s and developed into a much-loved character during the golden age of British comic illustration. Merrythought’s interpretation captures his distinctive and playful appearance in soft pink velveteen, with carefully applied airbrushed or hand-painted features that bring his character to life.

He wears his original red stud-fastened collar, adding an especially charming detail to his appearance. His flat lower paw pads allow him to stand unaided, making him particularly appealing for display.

Bonzo retains his official gold Merrythought label, which is stitched to his back, together with his original official labels attached to his leg. These original labels are an important feature for collectors and help to retain his authenticity and provenance.
